Overview:

A GT13E2 does not need a full new parts set at every outage, and buying new for every inspection is the fastest way to inflate the cost of ownership. Most inspections — a combustion inspection (CI) at roughly 8,000 hours, a hot-gas-path inspection (HGPI) at roughly 24,000–32,000 hours, and the C-level major overhaul at roughly 48,000–72,000 hours — are opportunities to repair and reuse costly hot-section components that still have life left. ZURN Power runs a dedicated GT13E2 repair line that returns blades, vanes, burners, and liners to serviceable condition to OEM fit, form, and function, often at a fraction of new-part cost and lead time. We work from detailed findings reports, from photos, or from the parts themselves, and we are set up for both planned shop visits and emergency returns after forced trips. This page explains what we repair, how, and why utilities and IPPs trust our workshop — a natural companion to our GT13E2 spare parts hub. The economics are straightforward: a reconditioned blade that returns to the rotor for a fraction of new price, and in weeks rather than months, directly protects the unit's availability factor and the revenue it underpins. A planned HGPI that reuses even half its hot-section set can cut the parts bill by five figures and keep the unit on its availability curve; our job is to make that reuse safe and certifiable.

Specs & Materials:

Our repair processes are matched to GT13E2 superalloy metallurgy so a refurbished part performs like the original rather than merely looking the part:

We work to the original alloy designation (IN738LC, René 80, CMSX) and confirm coating adherence and thickness before release, with certificates supplied on request. All repair welding is performed under a controlled atmosphere where the alloy demands it, and every re-coated part is subjected to a bond-check and a thickness survey before release, so coating loss in service is caught in the shop rather than at the next inspection. Each step is documented in a repair traveler that travels with the part, so the next inspector — ours or yours — can see exactly what was done and to what standard.

Supply / Service Scope:

GT13E2 repair services include stage 1–3 blade and vane refurbishment; SEV burner and fuel-nozzle repair; transition-piece and combustor-liner restoration; rotor inspection, minor repair, and balance; compressor blade cleaning, coating, and tip repair; and full HGPI / C-level overhaul part refurbishment packages managed as a single work scope. We also supply new spares (see the GT13E2 blade and other part pages) so a repair batch and a few new parts ship together and the outage is not held by a single unrepairable item. For fleet expansion, see our used GT13E2 gas turbine trade program and GT13E2 data-center power solutions. On-site services — field machining, boroscope-assisted assessment, and emergency blade changes where a unit cannot be moved and the work must come to it. Every returned set leaves with a QA dossier: before/after photographs, NDT results, balance report, and a certificate of conformance to the agreed scope.

Compatibility & Applications:

We service Alstom/ABB GT13E2, GT13E2-1, and MXL variants, applying the same procedures to comparable Ansaldo and other platform components so a mixed fleet is supported under one quality system. Repairs suit planned outages, life-extension programs aiming to push TBO, and emergency returns after FOD or thermal distress. Our clients include utility O&M groups, IPP asset managers, EPC service contractors, and industrial self-generators operating in 50 Hz markets who need a dependable alternative to long OEM lead times. For operators running both GT13E2 and Ansaldo V94.2-class machines, our procedures and material library overlap, so one repair partner covers the mixed fleet without a second qualification audit. We also support the regulatory side — emissions and noise basis-of-design inputs — so a repaired unit re-enters service cleared for its permit rather than held for re-approval.

Why ZURN:

Repair is where our vertical manufacturing pays off most directly: because we cast, HIP, machine, coat, and inspect in one chain, we understand the failure modes of every part we refurbish and can reproduce any component we cannot economically repair rather than declaring it scrap. That shortens the feedback loop between an inspection finding and a returned, certified part — typically days, not months — and it keeps more of the original, proven material in service. Combined with our Hong Kong logistics hub, we minimize the downtime that drives the true cost of an outage. We also keep a reference set of failed parts so we can show you the root cause — FOD, thermal fatigue, or coating loss — and recommend the upstream change that prevents recurrence rather than simply repeating the repair. And because the work is priced against a known internal cost of casting and coating, our repair quotes are transparent: you see what was saved versus new, not a number set to the urgency of your outage.

Email photos or findings reports and your outage schedule to sales@zurnpower.com (China: hanson@zurnpower.com · Europe: alex@zurnpower.com). We assess repairability, quote turnaround and price, and can mobilize a field team for on-site support or receive parts at our workshop. For service scope details and our parts catalog, visit /download. Send the outage window and the findings; we return a scope, a price, and a firm turnaround, and we can phase the work so the most urgent stages ship first and the outage closes on schedule. Standard turnaround for a balanced blade set is measured in weeks, not the months an OEM backlog can impose, and we state it in the quote rather than as a hopeful estimate.
